Horiyama was born and raised in Hiroshima, Japan. Her tattooing journey began after graduating with a degree in design from Auckland University of Technology. Horiyama was first the manager of Sunset Tattoo then later began an apprenticeship. She has now been tattooing for over 8 years and specialises in Traditional Japanese Irezumi tattoos. Her style is bright, bold, and simple, carrying on a long tradition of tattooing from her country of birth.
